Storm Within the Silence (Part 1)

The rain pounded upon the ground, thick sheets, like mist. The earth itself had opened its maw to the heavens as the clouds burst their seams and spilled their contents upon its parched dirt. There were now rivers and lakes of mud to wade through. Most stayed inside, reluctant to get caught in the torrential rainfall outside. They pitied the few who must seek their way to their own homes during this.

It was a good distance to town from the forest, yet one traveler decided to brave the storm, disliking the omnious silence of the forest more than getting drenched in the rain. The traveler pulled a hood over her head, hiding all but her dark red bangs and golden eyes. Her hands were strong and clawed. She resembled a human; wolf shaped though her body was.

The rain continued to pour and the traveler was up to her knees in mud. She was also extremely wet already, and, having abandoned all hope of keeping her head dry, taken off her hood. Her cloak weighed down her shoulder, thick cloth soaking up the rain. The dyewas running off in rivulets of red that looked like blood. Lightning flashed across the sky, thunder rumbling contentedly directly overhead.

The traveler paused in her struggle and looked up for a moment. The next flash of lightning lit up her face, illuminating her greyish muzzle. She grumbled to herself and pressed on, now without hope of turning back to the relativly dry forest. The fields around her swam in thick muck, all hope having been given up on the crops that had been growing there. The plants themselves had been uprooted and were floating on top of the sea of mud, making passage even more difficult.

From the direction of town she could hear the sound of a pack animal lowing, its owner having fled to the saftey of a tavern. She sighed, abandoning her cloak at last. She was able to make the journey faster now that she no longer carried its sopping weight.

**Note** Much of my writing has either anthropomorphic or lycanthropic characters in it. Just pointing that out. (i.e. many of my characters are werewolves, nagas, etc.) **End note**

 Seeing Double

I'm going to be putting bits and peices of stories I write up here on the stream. Mostly as an experiment to see if I can get into writing again. My goal is to post every day, or at least twice a week- if not more.
Most of my wrting would probably be considered 'fantasy'... But I'd consider 'horror' a close second with 'sci-fi' third. It's certainly fiction.
